The Lincoln Aviator and QX80 are among the most luxurious vehicles available from Lincoln and Infiniti, respectively. Though they belong in different price segments, with the Lincoln Aviator undercutting the QX80 by several thousand dollars, it's still more than competitive against Infiniti's aging SUV.

Performance and Efficiency

The 2020 Lincoln Aviator is equipped with a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 that's also offered with a plug-in hybrid system. It makes up to 494 horsepower and 630 lb-ft of torque, significantly more than the Infiniti QX80's 5.6-liter V8, which is rated at only 400 horsepower and 413 lb-ft. The Lincoln Aviator is also lighter and shorter than the QX80, contributing to better handling, especially in tight spaces.

The weaker powertrain is normally more efficient, but not in this case. The gasoline-only Lincoln Aviator gets an EPA-estimated fuel economy of 21 mpg*, a chunk more than the QX80's 18 mpg*. And if you get the electrified Lincoln Aviator, you can expect a truly impressive 56 MPGe*.

Space and Cargo

Despite having smaller exterior dimensions, the 2020 Lincoln Aviator provides more interior space for both passengers and cargo. It has slightly more first and third-row headroom, significantly more shoulder room across all three rows, and a whopping 3.4 inches more legroom at the front. For big families who need all three rows, the Aviator is no doubt more comfortable.

It's also more convenient. With 18.3 cubic feet of cargo space behind the third-row seat, compared to only 16.6 cubic feet for the QX80, you'll have more room to bring the whole family's belongings on the next big trip.

Features and Technology

The 2020 Lincoln Aviator is offered with a number of cool features and tech that set it apart from the Infiniti QX80 in a good way. For instance, it's offered with a color head-up display that projects key information like speed and directions directly in your line of sight. However, the QX80 isn't offered with a HUD at all. The Lincoln Aviator also gets wireless charging, Alexa compatibility, ventilated second-row seats and even an automated parking system. None of these features are available in the QX80, even on the most expensive trim or as options.

Between the 2020 Lincoln Aviator and 2020 Infiniti QX80, it's clear the Lincoln has the upper hand, and by a good margin. Get behind the wheel of the winner of this comparison at Ray Pearman Lincoln!
