The Lincoln Motor Company celebrates 100 years of excellence in 2022, and when you look back on its long history, you can see the brand has earned its reputation. One of America’s premier premium brands has achieved a lot in the past century, including these major highlights.

·         1922: Henry Ford purchases The Lincoln Motor Company from Henry Leland for $8 million.

·         1936: The Lincoln Zephyr debuts, featuring an “alligator”-type hood.

·         1939: The Lincoln Continental launches the personal luxury car segment in the United States and sets a new standard for premium quality.

·         1952: Following the success of the original, Lincoln rolls out the Continental Mark II, which often ranks among the greatest cars ever made.

·         1997: Lincoln launches the Lincoln Navigator, which immediately helps the brand beat Cadillac in sales.

·         2010: Years ahead of the Lincoln Aviator Grand Touring, Lincoln launches its first-ever hybrid vehicle: the Lincoln MKZ hybrid.

·         2017: Lincoln paves the way for its Quiet Flight design philosophy with the Lincoln Navigator Concept, which features staples like Perfect Position seats.

·         2021: The new Lincoln Navigator is the first vehicle to receive ActiveGlide, a hands-free driving feature.

A lot has happened for this premium American automaker over the years — and Lincoln isn’t done yet. 2022 is shaping up to be yet another important year in the brand’s history, and not just because it marks 100 years of Lincoln. Later this year, Lincoln will reveal its first electric vehicle, paving the way for the luxury brand to go fully electrified by 2030.
